Rapid travelled to Ried in the 34th round of matches in this season. However, the outcome was not what we were looking for. Early chances failed to materialise into an opening goal, and the Green - Whites found themselves trailing 0:3 at the interval.Warning signs were there right from kick off as Ried´s Salihi was denied by the woodwork. Steffen Hofmann and Hannes Eder both went close for Rapid, with Stefan Maierhofer also narrowly shooting wide of the upright. Three goals in quick succession then took the match away from Rapid. A quick fire double from Nacho (35 & 37) gave the Hütteldorfers a mountain to climb before mission impossible was compounded when Salihi added a third on the stroke of half time.Rapid´s job became even more difficult at the start of the second half as left back Kulovits picked up a second yellow card for a body check reducing our side to 10 men. Veli Kavlak chalked up his 100th appearance in the famous Green - White before being withdrawn, replaced by Marcel Ketelaer. Stefan Hofmann´s side did all they could to break through Ried´s stubborn defence in the second half, but with a three goal deficit and being a man light, a come back never realistically looked on the cards. No more goals were added in the second period and Rapid returned to Vienna with a disappointing away day defeat.34th round:SV Ried vs. SK Rapid 3:0 (3:0)Goals: 1:0 Nacho (35.), 2:0 Nacho (37.), 3:0 Salihi (45.)Stats of the game(gw)
