Mario Sonnleitner and Prokopic clashed heads chalenging for the ball which broke kindly for Schreter. He dispatched an expert left foot drive low across Hedl from the edge of the box to hand the hosts the lead. Sonnleitner was replaced by Hannes Eder and Prokopic by Löffler as both players failed to recover from the nasty clash.Salihi skewed a half chance well wide following head tennis between himself and Steffen Hofmann in the 25th minute as Rapid laboured to threaten, looking devoid of attacking thrust. They enjoyed the lions share of the possesion but were failing find mount forward momentum.Patocka put in an excellent last ditch tackle on 37 minutes to thwart the hosts and finally on the stroke of half time Pehlivan fired wide from the edge of the box following a Kavlak lay back in Rapid's only noteworthy effort of a frustrating opening 45.Rapid emerged for the restart looking much livelier and hungrier. After just two minutes good build up play down the left saw Jelavic probing into the Wacker box and winning a corner. the croatian marksman got on the end of the following set piece but his looping header cleared the bar.Rapid were beginning to look dangerous and Pacult brought on Drazan for Pehlivan as he looked to capatalise on good wing play and get more balls into the box.3 minutes after his introduction Drazan beat his marker and fired a wicked ball into the area. Salihi was clumsily barged over, but referee Schörgenhofer was unmoved. Jelavic earned himself a yellow card for his somewhat vociferous objection to the decision.Despite Rapid attempting to force the issue it was the hosts who snatched the important second goal, Koch doubling the advantage on 68 mins from close range following a precise cut back from Burgic. Innsbruck's counter attacking football was beginning to bare massive rewards, leaving Rapid hopelessly exposed at the back.Innsbruck cut Rapid to shreads in the 75th minute but missed a clear cut break away chance. They only had to wait until the 83rd minute though to seal the victory. Schreter received the ball on the edge of the area and had all the time in the world to pick his spot and fire a classy drive past Hedl to seal a deserved win.Steffen Hofmann nearly grabbed a consolation as his header came back off the woodwork in injury time before Löffler completed the rout, strolling through the decimated backline to tap home an easy fourth.The final whistle went and put the Green Whites out of their misery. Strange things can happen on opening days and especially agianst eager newly promoted sides.
