Club completes transfer: the 24-year old Stephan Auer has arrived from FC Admira Wacker on a three year contract! The flexible utility man from Lower Austria returns to the city of his birth, and will remain with the club until at least summer 2018. Stephan is our fourth new recruit ahead of the coming season, joining Stefan Nutz, Philipp Huspek and the Spaniard Tomi in making the switch to Hütteldorf. Sporting Director Andreas Müller: "We have spent the last months keeping a close eye on Stephan Auer and are convinced that he can genuinely strengthen our team. He’s already bringing a level of experience with him and, as he has proven in the season just gone, can play in a number of positions. I’m delighted that despite having a number of offers on the table he decided to accept the challenge of coming to Rapid and I’m positive that he'll fit with the team both in terms of sporting ability and character."Stephan Auer recently made his 100th top flight appearance and has in addition made 8 cup appearances for Mödling, for whom he signed as an 11-year old from SV Schwechat. In the past season Stephan featured for Mödling in his favoured right back position, but also on the opposite flank and across all positions in the midfield. Trainer Zoran Barisic: "I’m delighted that we’ve managed to sign all our major transfer targets before pre-season gets under way and I’m excited about working with Stephan, who put in top class performances for Admira. With his arrival the competition for places has just gotten bigger and he fits in perfectly with our philosophy of looking for players who can operate in various positions on the pitch."Stephan Auer on his move: "Just as with every Austrian footballer, it was a huge target for me for me to make the jump up to SK Rapid. Hence, I’m extremely happy that it’s worked out and I’m incredibly excited about the challenges ahead with my future team mates. At Rapid the club strives for lofty goals and I hope that I can do my bit in ensuring the club reaches these targets. Therefore from the first training session onwards I’m going to give everything and hope my efforts convince the trainer team that I can earn a place in this strong side."
