Boli Bolingoli departs for Scotland
News from the training camp in Bad Zell: After negotiating with Celtic Glasgow since the beginning of the month over a possible transfer for Boli Bolingoli, an agreement between the two clubs has finally been reached. The popular left flanker has already completed routine medical examinations with the Scottish champions and made the move to Glasgow. The transfer fee will remain undisclosed. SK Rapid wishes the likeable Bolingoli, who arrived two years ago from FC Bruges, all the best with his new club.
Zoran Barisic, SK Rapid Sporting Director, said: "It is with great regret that we’re letting Boli Bolingoli leave the club, as he was a tremendously important player for us. He wanted to make the next step in his career and play European football. Having reached an agreement over the transfer fee and its structure, we finally granted Boli his wish and let him move on. We do have options on the left currently within our squad, although I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that we might look to recruit in that area. One thing is clear - there won't be any panic signings. We've known for a while now that this transfer could happen, and have some potential replacements on our radar and will continue to scour the market", explained the 49-year-old Viennese.
Bolingoli made 73 competitive appearances during his two seasons with the club, including 10 in Europe, scoring 3 goals and racking up 10 assists. He has already said his goodbyes to team mates and had the following to say on the transfer: "I want to thank Rapid for two great years. I played with pride and enjoyment for the club and the fans and have made some good friends here in Vienna. But it is important for me to take the next step in my career and again play in the European Cup, hence the move to Celtic. I'll keep my eyes on Rapid and cross my fingers that the coming season will be a successful one for the club."
