New signing: Welcome to Rapid Boli Bolingoli
SK Rapid is delighted to announce the signing of a new player: Left-back Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo - most recently on loan at St. Truiden - has made the move to Hütteldorf from Club Bruge!
The 21-year-old (born on July 1st 1995) has already made over fifty appearances in the Belgian top flight and featured 17 times in European club competitions. He made the majority of his appearances in the blue and black of Club Bruges, who loaned the attack minded full-back to St. Truiden in early 2017.
Bolingoli has already passed a medical and signed a contract tying him to Rapid until summer 2020. The young Belgian arrived in Vienna on Monday and will immediately join up with the rest of the first team squad for pre-season training. Boli has already given his initial thoughts on his move to the Austrian capital: "I'm delighted that the transfer has been completed. In Belgium, Rapid Vienna is a well-known club, and I've actually seen a few of their games in the Europa League on TV. I'm impressed by the stadium and hope that I can entertain the Rapid fans", explained the 21-year-old, who was initially developed as an offensive player.
On the transfer, Sporting Director Fredy Bickel stated: "The left back position was one that really needing looking at. Thomas Schrammel is an important member in squad, but it was a priority to bring in competition. We have had Boli Bolingoli on our radar for months now and have seen him play numerous times. He is an unconventional player, who will create plenty of excitement with his extraordinary style. With his work ethic, willingness to run and his speed he is definitely going to be a huge plus for us and excite the fans along the way."
Welcome to SK Rapid!
