Sangaré Signs four-year deal at SK Rapid
The Mali U-23 international signs a four-year deal at SK Rapid:
Now that the medical has been completed, pen has been put to paper on a deal which brings 22-year-old Malian midfielder Mamadou Sangaré (born June 26th 2002) to SK Rapid. The Mali U-23 international has signed for the club until 2028, having previously spent a season-and-a-half at TSV Hartberg, on loan from Salzburg. He played 48 games in the Hartberg midfield, scoring three goals and directly assisting a further four. He previously gained experience as a loan player at Zulte Waregem (12 games/1 goal) and in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga at Grazer AK (26 games/5 goals) and FC Liefering (11 games). Sangaré came to Salzburg from Malian side Yeelen Olympique in September 2020.
Now he takes his next career step, and he’ll be wearing the number 17 jersey in Green & White from the coming season onwards. Managing Director of Sport Markus Katzer commented on Rapid's latest addition: "Mamadou Sangaré is a classic box-to-box player who does an enormous amount of running. He is very comfortable on the ball, has all the attributes you need in his position and also works excellently out of possession. He always has solutions at the ready, can hold on to the ball and is also quite resistant to the pressing that is often practiced in modern football. He also brings offensive qualities, as he can initiate attacks, set up goals and, last but not least, score them. As he has already been in Austria for almost four years, apart from half a season in the Belgian top-flight, he should be able to settle in with us quite quickly. I am looking forward to working with Mamadou, as is our coaching team around Robert Klauß, and I am sure that he will be another important part of a strong team for the future."
Mamadou Sangaré will join his new teammates with immediate effect and start training with Rapid. Markus Katzer commented: "I'm grateful to Mamadou for being so keen on his new role. He could actually be in the middle of his preparations with Mali for the Olympic Games, and he’s a very important player for the Eagles. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision for him, so it's all the better that he's available to us one hundred percent from now on."
Mamadou Sangaré himself said in an initial statement: "I would like to thank those responsible at Rapid for their trust. I will try to repay this trust and do my best every day to contribute to achieving our goals. I am delighted to now be a part of this internationally renowned club with its great history and huge fan base."
