Rapid Learn UEFA Conference League Draw Fate

After seeing off Wisla Krakow and Trabzonspor, SC Braga proved a hurdle just a touch too high for SK Rapid in the qualifiers, meaning that captain Matthias Seidl will lead his team into the freshly revitalised UEFA Conference League (formerly UEFA Europa Conference League) for this season.

After the draw was conducted at UEFA Headquarters in Nyon, the following fixtures await our team:

Home games: FC Kopenhagen (DEN), Shamrock Rovers (IRL), Noah (ARM)

Away games: Istanbul Başakşehir (TUR), Omonoia Nikosia (CYP), Petrocub (MDA)

Head coach Robert Klauß gave his initial reaction to the draw: “It's an exciting draw, we'll take a close look at all our opponents. Now we also have to wait and see when we play who, that will be important for our planning. We're looking forward to every opponent and want to be well prepared against each one. Copenhagen are a great team who reached the last 16 of the Champions League last year. We still need more information about the other two home opponents, but I've already seen the strong results of Noah from Armenia in the qualifiers.”

A new competition format will be used for the first time this season, featuring six games against six different opponents, three home and three away games, and one opponent from each pot. The eight best teams of 32 in an overall league table will qualify directly for the Round of 16; the teams in ninth to 24th place will compete in play-off ties with a first and second leg, the winners of which will also qualify for the round of 16. From the round of 16 onwards, the competition continues in a more familiar knockout manner until the final.

 Ticket information will be made available by the club soon, and the games will take place between October 3rd and December 19th, 2024.
