Isak Jansson Seals League 1 Switch

SK Rapid and OGC Nice, who finished third in the Ligue 1 table last season, have agreed on a permanent transfer for Isak Jansson.

The now 23-year-old Swede initially came to Hütteldorf on loan from Spanish second division club FC Cartagena in February 2024 and was signed permanently last summer. The three-time U-21 international has made a total of 45 competitive appearances in the Green & White jersey, scoring ten goals and providing seven assists, including eleven games on the European stage with two goals and four assists. His highlight in Austria was probably his brace in the 3-2 home win against the Red Bulls from Salzburg in September last year, which was one of the decisive factors in allowing Rapid to celebrate successive wins against the Salzburgers for the first time in over a decade.

There has been a lot of interest in the pacy winger from the international transfer market recently, and it has now been confirmed that his career will continue on the Côte d'Azur. Managing Director of Sport Markus Katzer agreed the transfer terms with those responsible at the four-time French champions and said: "On the one hand, I'm delighted that we were absolutely right in our assessment of Isak Jansson's qualities a year and a half ago, but on the other hand we would of course have liked to have had him in our ranks for a little longer. But the fact is that we have now come to the joint decision that a move makes sense for everyone involved. Isak, whom I would like to thank for his commitment and wish every success and good health, is now keen to make the move to one of Europe's top five leagues. As the conditions are also right for us, we would like to give him this opportunity," said the 45-year-old Vienna native.
