Janis Antiste Joins On Loan

Another reinforcement joins the Green & White attack. Janis Antiste, a promising French striker, has joined SK Rapid on loan from US Sassuolo for the coming season. Born in August 2002, the attacker can already draw on the experience of more than 100 league games in Serie A and the second-tier divisions in France, Italy and, most recently, Germany.

Antiste enjoyed his footballing education at the academy of FC Toulouse, for whom he played 39 competitive matches in Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France as a teenager, scoring eight goals in the process. From there, he moved to the then first division club La Spezia in Serie A four years ago, before being snapped up by league rivals US Sassuolo a year later. The 183 cm tall striker went on to gain match experience at Amiens (2023) and Reggiana (2023/24 with 29 appearances and four goals). Last season, he initially returned to Unione Sportiva Sassuolo before going out on loan to 1. FC Nürnberg in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga in February. He scored five goals in twelve games for the traditional Franconian club and directly assisted a further two.

In the coming season, the French youth international will be on the hunt for goals as a loan player in Green & White.

Managing Director of Sport Markus Katzer commented on the signing of the 22-year-old attacker: "Janis Antiste is very versatile in attack. He can play as a solo number nine, but also in a two-man or three-man attack. He has excellent technique and repeatedly demonstrated his goal-scoring ability during the spring season with Nürnberg. Janis still has great potential, he definitely brings a lot of quality to our team. He has already gained a lot of experience at a high level in three of Europe's top footballing countries and I am delighted that we can welcome him into our midst in the future," said the 45-year-old Viennese.

Janis Antiste has already successfully passed his medical in Vienna, and he will wear shirt number 90 for SK Rapid in the future.
