Martin Ndzie Joins SK Rapid
The ink is dry, and the medical tests have been completed, therefore SK Rapid can announce another new signing in the form of Cameroonian Martin Ndzie. The defensive midfielder is moving to Vienna with immediate effect after several years in Israel, and has signed a contract running until summer 2029.
Martin most recently played for FC Ashdod in the Ligat ha'Al, Israel's top division, where he made close to 50 competitive appearances. Born on 16th January 2003, the Cameroonian first moved to Ashdod at the age of 18, and in between, he played on loan for Hapoel Ramat Gan in the Israeli second tier in the 2022/23 season. Most recently, the 188 cm tall midfielder became a mainstay in the side, and also made the leap into his home country's national team. The left-footed player has played three international matches for Cameroon so far, most recently in June this year in a 3-0 win against Uganda.
Managing Director of Sport Markus Katzer had this to say about the latest signing: "In Martin Ndzie, we are getting a typical number six. He impresses with his consistent challenges, winning duels both on the ground and in the air, and also has good passing skills and a calmness on the ball. When he has the ball at his feet, he is very difficult to dispossess. One of his qualities is his ability to cover his teammates in the offensive department. Despite his young age, he is a player who can help us quickly, and someone who our coaching staff around Peter Stöger are fully convinced by," said the 45-year-old Viennese.
As Martin Ndzie is a non-EU citizen, it will take some time for him to obtain his playing licence. Once this has been granted, he will wear the number 14 jersey.

Martin Ndzie himself said in an initial statement: "I am looking forward to the new challenge at SK Rapid in Vienna and already enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere in the stadium during the home win against Blau Weiß Linz. I already know two of my new teammates, Nenad Cvetković and “Hari” Marcelin, from my time in Israel and hold them in high regard. I hope to play my first match in Green & White as soon as possible."
