The Austrian U21 International (5 apps, 1 goal) has signed a three-year contract. Last season Alar bagged a credible 14 goals in the Bundesliga. Trainer Peter Schöttel: "I'm delighted that following extensive negotiations with Kapfenberg, were able to bring one of the hottest properties in Austrian football in the shape of Deni Alar to Hütteldorf. I’m convinced that in coming seasons Alar will play a pivotal role for us."Deni Alar, fresh from his exploits with the U21 National Team in Portugal explained: "As a lad I was a huge Rapid fan, so obviously I’m really excited to get the chance to play for the club. I decided to sign with Rapid because I felt here I had the best chance to continue to develop as a player. Rapid belongs at the top of the table, and next season I want to help us push back up there with my goals.”Following Thomas Prager and the return of loanee Christian Thonhofer, Deni Alar – along with Guido Burgstaller – is the 4th new arrival ahead of the forthcoming season. Here is some information about the comings and goings in Hütteldorf so far this summer:Head coach Peter Schöttel on…… The departures of Veli Kavlak and Tanju Kayhan: "I'm pleased for Kavlak and Kayhan. Both have progressed through our youth system. It represents a success for the club when homegrown players make moves to big clubs like Besiktas. It speaks volumes for our youth system here in Hütteldorf. In this instance both sides have profited. It was a win-win situation for both the club and the players. I wish both of them every success in Istanbul."…new boy Thomas Prager: "Thomas Prager has experienced a tough year in Luzern, but the fact remains he has represented his country on 14 occasions. During his time with LASK his displayed his well-known defensive abilities, along with his skills further forward. In Holland he received a top football education and has the desire to prove himself. For me these types of player are important." … returning loanee Christian Thonhofer: "Christian Thonhofer was a regular starter under me at Wiener Neustadt and he delivered consistent performances. He can play right midfield as well as right back. He gives us another good option for these positions. He has a great attitude and fights for every ball." ... new signing Guido Burgstaller: "Guido is a dynamic, offensive player and can play in a number of positions. I'm very optimistic that he'll add dynamism and an element of the unexpected to our offensive game."(gw)
