Good news for Rapid and Rapid fans alike. Last week SK Rapid and Deni Alar agreed terms over a two year extension to Deni's existing contract which was due to expire in Summer 2014!The 23 year old Styrian, who joined us little over two years ago from Kapfenberger SV, will now remain with the club until the end of the 2015/16 season. On the topic of his freshly signed contract extension the 16 cap former U-21 star said: "I'm absolutely delighted that I'll still be with Rapid beyond next Summer. Although I've been out injured for a long time I've seen how our young team has continued to develop. I'm positive that in the coming years we'll have successes to celebrate, and want to thank Sporting Director Helmut Schulte and Trainer Zoran Barisic for the faith their putting into me."Helmut Schulte and Zoran Barisic were both naturally thrilled to have secured Deni's services for a further two years. "Deni is a tremendously important player for Rapid and had regularly proved his quality before his injury. Therefore its pleasing that a player with his class, who is currently working his socks off daily towards his comeback, could be tied down on a long term basis", said Schulte and Barisic in unison. Our Sporting Director added: "I would like to extend my gratitude to Deni and his management team for the professional way in which negotiations were conducted throughout. I'm convinced that Deni will comeback even stronger for SK Rapid."From Styria to HütteldorfDeni Alar started his footballing journey with his home town club FC Zeltweg, moving during the 2006/07 season's Winter break to DSV Leoben. From there the path led him to a January 2009 move to Kapfenberger SV.So far Deni has made 60 Bundesliga appearances for Rapid (24 goals), 4 in the FA Cup and 9 in Europa League ties (including qualification rounds). In the 2012/13 Europa League campaign he bagged 5 goals, earning himself the title of Green & White "Mr. Europacup." In May the youngster, who was born in Croatia but moved as a baby with his parents to Styria, ruptured his Achilles and is currently working hard towards his comeback. Following a small operation at the start of September Deni Alar should be able to up his training schedule to include running and fitness work in the coming days.
