Boyd joined us in Summer 2012 from Borussia Dortmund reserves, with whom he had been part of a team that had won promotion to the German third tier. Having spent two seasons in Green & White, the striker and his representatives have decided it is in the best interests of the player to return to the country of his birth. Next season Boyd will don the colours of RasenBallsport Leipzig in the German second division after both clubs concluded satisfactory negotiations.Sporting Director Andreas Müller: "Terrance has recently come on leaps and bounds and with his goals, as well as his attitude, was an important factor in our team as we finished runners up. His contract would've run until the coming Summer and we were keen to tie him to the club long term. We put what in our eyes was a very good contract extension on the table but Terrance decided against an extended stay with us and instead forced through his wish of a Summer transfer. We have managed to agree a deal with Leipzig that was satisfactory to both parties. We would like to thank Terrance for his efforts for the club and wish him all the best in this next stage of his career."An agreement was reached between the two clubs that the conditions of the transfer should remain undisclosed. Boyd left the training camp in Schärding yesterday to travel to Leipzig and complete a medical. Rapid, on the other hand, will know look to get active in the transfer market. "We will do everything to ensure we fill the gap left by Terrance's departure, but we won't be putting any time frames on our dealings", explained Müller, who added: "Alongside a striker in the classic focal point mould we are looking for an additional forward and I'm sure that we'll go into the new season with a strong squad."Terrence Boyd on his move: "I'd like to make clear my gratitude to Rapid and its amazing fans for two fantastic years. Unfortunately it didn't work out with winning a title but nonetheless my time with this special club was great and incredibly important for me. The decision to leave wasn't easy as I feel at home both at the club and in the city. But to me it looks like moving to a highly ambitious club with the aim of winning promotion to one of the best leagues in the world is the best move for the sake of my career. In the future i'll always keep my fingers crossed for Rapid and a part of me will always remain Green & White."The 23 year old Striker made 80 competitive appearances for the club, netting 37 times. "I'm particularly proud of the winner I scored in the away derby victory in October, as well as the double I got against Salzburg in the last home match of the season", said Boyd as he reflected on his Rapid career.
