It was all going on in Hütteldorf: To mark our club's 119th birthday, we invited members, season ticket holders, and Rapid fans in general down to the Allianz Stadion. Greeting those present was Club Service Manager Andy Marek, who hosted an impressive line-up of Green & White legends from the ages who took up residences in the various spaces on offer within the stadium.
Those representing various eras of the club's famous past chatted and offered a selection of amusing anecdotes for all those present. As the likes of Didi Kühbauer made public the formerly private jokes and stories he and his teammates used to share, the laughter of those gathered in the Player's Lounge in the Main Stand could be heard on the streets outside the stadium.
Josef Hickersberger was also on hand, and he guided the crowd that packed into a Rapid Box through the glorious 2005 league triumph and the following expedition in the UEFA Champions League with his stories and recollections. Illustrious Green & White heroes followed suit, as Alfred Körner entertained onlookers in the Press Conference Room, whilst Johnny Bjerregaard and Rudi Flögel took the crowds on a journey down memory lane in the Rekordmeister Bar.
Helge Payer and Mario Sonnleitner were also to be found in the Player's Lounge, as were Christian Keglevits and Gerald Willfurth. In summary: There was really something for everyone on offer at this extraordinary live experience, which took those present on a journey through history and back again.
Our thanks go out to all participants and attendees who made the event such a success!
