A determined Rapid outfit, including Markus Heikkinen in at the back for the suspended Harry Pichler, started with purpose in the southern City: Branko Boskovic floated a free kick into the penalty and it was met perfectly by Christopher Trimmel who got an unconventional headed contact onto the ball and managed to guide it into the corner - 1:0 Rapid (3.). The Green & Whites early goal gave them the momentum and they didn't let go of their grip on the match. Good possession football and sharp passing saw them looking dangerous, as they created openings on numerous occasions.A beautifully executed passage of play almost lead to a second: Louis Schaub could hardly believe it as home keeper Tischler managed to tip his venemous drive onto the crossbar (17.). Lukas Grozurek had been probing all game and managed to get in behind the Admira backline before cutting the ball tantalisingly across the goal mouth, but no-one was on hand to apply the finishing touch (29.). Rapid dominated the first half, not allowing their hosts a sniff of Jan Novota's goal. An important win looked well within grasp, providing they could muster a similiar performance in the second half.Wydra cracker seals the pointsUnsuprisingly there were no changes at half time. It also came as no suprise that Admira tried to build up a head of steam and force themselves back into the game, but Rapid remained alert and compact, and saw off the mini storm in a professional manner. Then in the 58th minute Dominik Wydra ensured there would be no nervous finale for Rapid: his rasping drive was still rising as it flew into the net giving Tischler no chance whatsoever - 2:0. The Hütteldorfer's task was then made somewhat easier by the dismissal of Admira Captain Schachner for a second bookable offence in the 67th minute. With the man advantage the Viennese started spraying the ball about with authority and aplomb. Chances came and went for Kulovits, Burgstaller and substitute Dominik Starkl but the scoreline remained two - nil.The team delivered a good performance that will have no doubt helped along Trainer Zoran Barisic's birthday celebrations, and that has importantly ensured that European football will return to the green half of Vienna next season.tipp3-Bundesliga, 35th round:FC Admira - SK Rapid 0:2 (0:1)Trenkwalder-Arena, 6.375 Attendance, Referee DrachtaGoals: 0:1 ( 5.)
