Following the signings of Phillip Schobesberger from 2013 Cup winners FC Pasching and Christopher Dibon from champions RB Salzburg, we're pleased to announce the capture of another young Austrian prospect in our Summer recruitment drive before the start of the 2014/15 tipico-Bundesliga.The club has successfully concluded negotiations with SC Wiener Neustadt for the transfer of Stefan Stangl. The 22 year old Styrian has agreed terms and signed a contract that will keep him in Hütteldorf until Summer 2017. Going in the other direction is Lukas Denner, who has made a permanent switch to the Lower Austrian club following his loan spell.Stangl made 28 Bundesliga appearances for Wiener Neustadt in the previous season. Sporting Director Andreas Müller gave us his reaction to the transfer of the left footed Stangl, who is comfortable both in full back and midfield roles: "We've watched Stefan Stangl in a number of games and are convinced that he's going to strengthen us. He's tall (185cm) and good in the air, and is a committed and spirited footballer." Stangl is another player from Trainer Zoran Barisic's wish list.Stangl started his career at SK Sturm Graz, for whom he made 66 appearances (7 goals) for the reserve side in the Regional League Central. He also made 4 appearances for the first team, including starting for Graz in a 2:1 away victory against AEK Athens in an Europa League qualifier. Stangl enjoyed loan spells at both SV Grödig and SV Horn in the Heute für Morgen First Division, making a total of 37 appearances in Austria's second tier. Last Summer he moved to Wiener Neustadt, signing a contract until 2015. Andreas Müller rounded off by saying: "We're happy to have Stefan on board, who will join up with us directly after his holidays for pre-season training. We know he has potential and will strengthen us further."
