From Hernals to Hütteldorf: Rene Kriwak joins SK Rapid

One of the most prolific goal scorers from the current Regionalliga Ost season has moved with immediate effect from Wiener Sportclub to SK Rapid. 22-year-old Rene Kriwak (D.O.B. 30/04/1999) has signed a contract until 2023/24, and will initially join up with the SK Rapid II squad.

Zoran Barisic, Managing Director of Sport, had his say on the move: “I’m pleased that we’re able to welcome Rene to our ranks. We see a lot of potential in him, and trust that in the medium-term he can put himself into contention for a place in the senior team. Hopefully, he will seize the chance he’s been given to prove himself. Rene is a versatile offensive player, who - at his size - is also extremely adept at heading the ball.”

For the new signing himself, it’s a childhood dream come true: “I’ve been a Rapid fan since I was very little, and therefore it feels especially good to be here right now. It’s a great honour to be a part of this team, and I’m really looking forward to getting to know my new team mates. I’m raring to go when it comes to the tasks ahead, and I want to find my feet as fast as possible” said the forward, who is just two centimetres shy of being two metres tall, and scored eleven times in thirteen games in the black of Wiener Sportclub during autumn 2021.

Zoran Barisic said that moving from SK Rapid II to the senior team was a “medium-term goal” for our new signing, as he welcomed him at sunset in the Prater.
