A New Man in Midfield
SK Rapid have strengthened in midfield with the arrival of the 27-year-old Austrian Lukas Grgić. Born in Wels, Lukas played in the past for SV Ried, WSG Tirol and LASK, before moving to the Croatian top flight with Hajduk Split in January 2022. After a year-and-a-half abroad, the defensively-minded midfielder is back in Austria, having signed a contract at SK Rapid until the summer of 2026!
Lukas Grgić brings with him the experience of 47 Bundesliga appearances, 38 top flight games in Croatia, as well as 14 European matches. In the 2020-21 season he became a integral part of the midfield at LASK, as his team reached the European group stages two seasons running. The former Austria junior international was part of the 2015 U-20 World Cup, and following his move to Croatia he also forced his way into the first team at Hajduk. With his strong physical presence, his mentality and his all-round abilities as a player, Lukas Grgić is a valuable reinforcement for Rapid’s midfield department.
