Capped 32 times by his country, Boskovic, last seen in the colours of MLS outfit D.C. United before his return to Austria, passed his medical on Monday and was introduced to his team mates earlier on today. At 09:45 Branko, Peter Schöttel and Helmut Schulte met the press and took some time out for photo opportunities. During his first spell with the club the midfield maestro made 126 competitive appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing 24 assists. Boskovic has also played for top clubs such as Paris St. Germain, Troyes and Red Star Belgrade during his career. The returning midfielder could hardly contain his delight when addressing the public during the press conference: "Rapid has a very special place in my heart and I'm simply delighted to be able to come back to the club. Vienna is like a second home for me and I always enjoy looking back on some fantastic memories and wonderful successes, such as winning the league in 2008. I've still got many friends here in Vienna and I have always kept up the contact with them. I’m grateful to the fans here too who have always offered me incredible support. I hope the second time round will be equally as successful as the first", said Boskovic. Trainer Peter Schöttel is also delighted by the prospect of Branko's return: "I'm very happy that we can have Branko on board in Portugal for the training camp and that we can welcome such an excellent addition to the squad. Branko has already proved what an asset he is for the club and it's to our advantage that he already knows the place inside out. With his class and professionalism he’s going to be a huge help for us, and due to his history with the club is already held in high regard by all the staff, players and fans."Director of Football Helmut Schulte, who since starting work with the club was heavily involved in the transfer, added: "Following all the talks, negotiations and speculation I'm delighted that we have secured a new player, who will strengthen the squad with his quality and experience. The team as a whole will benefit as will each individual player. We're also looking to Branko to use his class and experience to help bring along the younger members of the squad."(gw)
