Back in 2009, a team was established to bring a much-touted idea to fruition. Following talks with culture publicist and designated expert of our clubs' rich history, Domenico Jacono, club service manager Andy Marek decided to embark on this exciting project.Former President Rudolf Edlinger gave the museum his full backing. Through his involvement in the creation of the Legend's Club and his commissioning of the study 'Rapid under the Swastika,' he had already proved himself to be a champion of a new Rapid culture of bringing the club's tradition and history to the fore. Thorsten Leitgeb was then identified as project coordinator. He had a wealth of experience having been heavily involved in the 2008 European Championships exhibitions.Rapid fans are in for a real treat in the knowledge that some very special Green & White pieces have been brought into the collection. The 'Viktoria' is a great example. The trophy, donated by the German Football Association (DFB), was the prize awarded to the German League winners between 1903 and 1944. SK Rapid is the only club to have won the 'Viktoria' based outside the modern German borders. The 'Providentia' trophy from the 1930 Mitropacup victory is also on display, alongside the oldest Austrian domestic cup trophy, the 1919 Austrian FA Cup. Between 1912 and 1978 Rapid's home was the Pfarrwiese, and the Rapideum will feature a 1:140 scale model of the old ground. The pocket watch of 'Mr Rapid' himself, the legendary Dionys Schönecker, is on view, as is the first ever fan scarf from the year 1969.There are more than 400 items waiting to be discovered in the Rapideum. In addition to the displayed artefacts there are more than 130 pictures and the three media stations (touch screens) offer three-and-a-half hours of archive footage for visitors to search through and to uncover their own personal favourite Rapid moments. The permanent exhibition celebrates SK Rapid's 114-year history, littered with success and glory, unparalleled in Austria. The Rapideum collects and preserves the club's heritage for future generations. We look forward to welcoming you to the Rapideum!Adress:RapideumGerhard Hanappi-StadiumKeisslergasse 61140 Vienna Opening hours:Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 14:00 to 19:00.
