New Arrival In Hütteldorf: with immediate effect 40 year-old Dutchman Bernard Schuiteman has taken over the role of SK Rapid Vienna Chief Scout. Schuiteman, who had a successful playing career (league winner with Feyenoord in 1999, domestic cup winner on three occasions with Feyenoord, Leverkusen and GAK), has signed a contract tying him to the club until the end of the 2015/16 season.Sporting Director Andreas Müller feels that in the Austrian-based Dutchman, the club has made a shrewd appointment: "Bernard Schuiteman is the ideal man for this position. He was already employed by Twente Enschede in a scouting role that saw him examine south-east Europe, and he  already has knowledge of the Austrian market including the youth levels. Together we're going to build a scouting network that includes one time co-trainer Fritz Riedmüller and ex-international Anton Herzog that will allow us to engage better than we have done previously in this area", explained our Sporting Director who went on to add: "Nick Neururer won't be part of this new look team and I'd like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for all his hard work over the previous months."A career as a player, trainer, sporting director and scoutOur new Chief Scout doesn't only have a successful playing career behind him (FC Twente, Leverkusen, Feyenoord, Utrecht, GAK, Mainz 05, Unterhaching, Apollon Limassol, Cambuur and teams in the Austrian non-league), but also has experience as a trainer. In 2007 he completed his UEFA B License, in 2008 the A license followed. Schuiteman found his first coaching position in Waidhofen/Ybbs (here he coached the youth team as well as filling in for four months as interim manager of the first team) before moving onto Linz (from 2010-2012 he was the academy trainer, looking after the u-15's). Between 2006-2010 the Dutchman directed the Education Centre for Football and Economics in Waidhofen/Ybbs.The new Rapid Head Scout is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead: "I'm really proud to get the chance to work for the record champions! I'll use all the experience I gathered during my time as international scout with FC Twente to try and improve the effectiveness of the scouting network at Rapid and ensure its very structured and organised."For adopted Austrian Schuiteman his employment with Rapid sees him come full circle: "In the 1996 Cup Winners' Cup Semi-Final I played over 90 minutes during the two legs and despite the painful defeat I was impressed by Rapid. Now I'm delighted to be at this club, a club with such a rich tradition!"
