Recent trips to the South City haven't been particularly fruitful for Rapid, having lost the previous two encounters. The class of 2014 were looking to put this little run to bed and build on the positive momentum from the past weeks.Fluid Rapid create a hatful of openingsThe early signs didn't look good though, with the Green & Whites struggling to get out of the blocks. The hosts made them pay for their sluggish start, making the most out of the match's first opportunity: a fast break away lead to Quedraogo feeding the ball into Schick, who smashed a left footed shot past a static Jan Novota at the near post - 1:0 (6.). Rapid managed to muster something by way of an immediate response - lively debutant Florian Kainz attempted to curl the ball into the far corner but was denied by a tidy save from Mödling keeper Leitner (10.). From the resulting corner Kainz's ex-Sturm Graz teammate Beric rose highest to get his head on the ball, but his powerful header went just over (11.). The Viennese' search for an immediate response was rounded off by a Thanos Petsos free kick, which, despite being hit with the customary velocity, was comfortably gathered in by Leitner (12.). Both teams were clearly set up with emphasis on attacking as an entertaining and attractive encounter unfolded in the sun drenched BSFZ Arena.Chances continued to flow for Rapid, but what would have been a deserved equaliser remained elusive. Steffen Hofmann tried his luck having been fed the ball by Louis Schaub, but his shot was too central to trouble Leitner (26.). Crisp build up play saw the ball moved from Schrammel out on the left flank into Kainz, who in turn picked out Schaub who got a goal bound shot off only for dramatic last ditch defending from Schösswendter to somehow rescue the situation for Admira (34.). Minutes later Kainz went close (38.) but the hosts always posed a threat on the break, a threat which nearly materialised shortly before half time: Jan Novota was called into action to tip a good effort from Auer over the bar (44.), from the resulting set piece Windbichler headed narrowly over (45.).Dream debut for KainzShortly after the restart Rapid found themselves at a numerical advantage: Admira Captain Windbichler picked up a second yellow card for a rash challenge on Robert Beric. However just minutes later Admira had a golden opportunity to go two goals up, but Quedraogo could only find the side netting when he really should have done better (58.). The hosts were left to rue this costly miss as Rapid finally found the equaliser their football had deserved: Mario Pavelic broke forwards into the Admira box, cutting the ball back from the by line and finding Florian Kainz, who guided the ball into the net with a right footed finish - 1:1 (63.)! The equaliser had long been on the cards and was fully deserved, particularly for Kainz who had looked lively on his debut in Green & White.Rapid now looked to press home the man advantage and went in search of a winner. Despite enjoying territorial domination and pressing the Mödling back line deeper and deeper, a concrete chance failed to materialise and Barisic's men were forced to settle for a point, despite having delivered a performance that would have been worthy of more.tipico Bundesliga, Match Day 3FC Admira Wacker - SK Rapid 1:1 (1:0)Maria Enzersdorf, BSFZ-Arena, 6.125 Attendance, Ref EisnerGoals: 1:0 (7.)
