With work continuing apace on the site of our old St. Hanappi Stadium we bring you a quick overview of the latest developments:Keißlergasse has been a hive of activity since the last ever match in the Hanappi against Celtic in the past Summer. Construction workers and diggers have replaced players and fans outside the Club's rooms as the demolition work continues. The end of October saw a momentous step forwards for the Century Project, as the remaining roofing was spectacularly torn down in front of Club onlookers and media representatives alike. The beginning of the roof dismantling process can be viewed here on the official Rapid youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b72lZgcY61QThe Rapid youtube channel is a great way to follow the progress of the new Stadium build from afar, and offers unique footage from the ground level.Final Red Tape cutMore good news came at the start of November when district authorities gave the project their seal of approval. With the conformation that the authorities in Penzing could see no issue with the building proposals the Club negotiated one of the final stumbling blocks in the race to the Allianz Stadium. President Michael Krammer was of course delighted with the outcome, stating: "One of the last hurdles has been cleared and so with relief and brimming with enthusiasm we march along."Just the South Stand remainsWith works continuing on schedule most of the demolition work has been completed, with a January finish firmly in sight. With all the roofing long gone, all that stands from the old Hanappi Stadium is the South Stand, and not for much longer! Here you can see just how much work gets done in a week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b72lZgcY61QIt seems that 2015 will be an exciting year, with the first signs of a new stadium rising out of the ashes of the old set to become visible. In the meantime the Club will continue to play home fixtures at the Ernst-Happel-Stadium.(gw)
