Departure: Lucas Galvao moves to Germany
Departure from the summer training camp: Defender Lucas Galvao has left Hütteldorf for Germany with immediate effect. The 27-year old Brazilian, who joined us last summer from SCR Altach, has moved to FC Ingolstadt on a contract until summer 2021. Galvao, who made 28 appearances in Green & White and scored one goal, had initially signed a contract with Rapid tying him to the club until summer 2020, meaning Ingolstadt have paid a transfer fee to secure his services. The fee itself will remain undisclosed.
Sporting Director Fredy Bickel had the following to say on Galvao's surprise move: "It is with great reluctance that we are letting Galvao leave the club, as he was a great fit for us in terms of both his sporting abilities and his character. Regretfully he made it clear that he wanted to make the move, and after ensuring that the terms of the transfer were satisfactory, we granted him the transfer. As Galvao had communicated with us on a regular basis, we were and are prepared for the transfer, and I’m confident that we'll be able to announce his replacement within the coming week. I wish Lucas all the best for this new stage of his career, both personally and on behalf of SK Rapid."
Along with a new defensive arrival, Fredy Bickel is also close to announcing a new attacker to offset the loss through injury of Giorgi Kvilitaia, Andrija Pavlovic and Philipp Schobesberger: we'll keep you posted with all breaking transfer development!
