The Bundesliga’s 50th Season Starts on Friday
After the summer break, league football is back in Austria’s stadia. The Bundesliga’s anniversary season gets going with Rapid’s involvement, as LASK host the Green & Whites on Friday evening for a curtain-raiser under the floodlights in Linz.
- Kick off: 20:30 - Raiffeisen Arena
- Live broadcast: Sky Sport Austria & ORF 1
- Liveticker: Rapid App
- Matchday impressions: On Rapid’s social media channels
Tickets for the away sector are only available at the Fan Corner in Hütteldorf or at the stadium in Linz on matchday.
Returning to a Good Run against LASK?
Since the Linz side returned to the top flight in 2016/2017 up until last year, Rapid had a mainly successful time of things in away games against LASK. In the eight away games in that period, the Green & Whites claimed five victories, with two draws and just one loss. However, last season, that trend didn’t continue, as Rapid suffered defeats both in Pasching and in the first meeting at the new stadium on the Gugl. Although the Green & Whites have scored at least once in each of the last 10 away games versus LASK, Rapid are four games without a win against them.
In each of the past four seasons, Rapid have kicked off the campaign with a home game. Last time we started away was back in the 18/19 season, when we defeated Admira 3-0 in the Südstadt.
Pejic and Bajic out, Cvetkovic set to Return
For the most part, the Green & Whites have come through the summer well and almost without major injury worries. Almost, because Aleksa Pejic and Ante Bajic are both injury-related absences for matchday one. Aleksa Pejic is suffering from an inflammation of the pubic bone and is currently undergoing therapeutic treatment. The cup match against Donaufeld had, despite a dominant performance, one downside; the injury suffered by Ante Bajic. A partially positive report was given after closer examinations at the beginning of the week; despite a ligament injury in the ankle, an operation is not necessary. However, the outfield player will nevertheless be unavailable for the time being. New summer signing Nenad Cvetkovic has recently been struggling with muscular problems, but has been back in full team training since last week.
