Claudy Mbuyi joins Rapid
The first new signing of the 2025/26 season is complete! 26-year-old Claudy Mbuyi, last season’s top scorer in Austria’s second division, is moving from SKN St. Pölten to SK Rapid, and has signed a contract until the end of the 2027/28 season. As usual, the transfer terms have not been disclosed.
The Congo-born Frenchman began his professional career in France, making 47 appearances for FC Villefranche-Beaujolais in the country's third tier, among others, before moving to SKN St. Pölten in the summer of 2024. Mbuyi made 26 competitive appearances for the Lower Austrian club last season, scoring 23 goals, 21 of which came in the league, making the Frenchman the top scorer. At the start of the new season, Claudy Mbuyi will wear the number 71 for SK Rapid.
Sporting Director Markus Katzer commented on the transfer: "I am delighted that Claudy Mbuyi has decided in favour of SK Rapid despite numerous offers from various national and international clubs and he will strengthen our attack. With his top-scorer title and his exceptional goal tally, he comes to Hütteldorf with a lot of confidence and he will be an asset to our team. I'm already looking forward to his first appearances in the Green & White jersey, and I hope that Rapid fans will be able to celebrate many of his goals in the future."
Claudy Mbuyi is looking forward to his new role in Hütteldorf: "SK Rapid is a very big club, which is why I'm really proud to be part of this team from now on. After my successful time in St. Pölten, I'm now looking forward to the next step in my career and can't wait to play in this beautiful stadium and score goals for this club."
Bienvenue, Claudy!
