Maximilian Ullmann completes Serie A switch
It is now official: Maximilian Ullmann, whose contract would have expired at the end of the season, is making an winter move to Italy’s Serie A. The 25-year-old Upper Austrian joined SK Rapid from LASK in the summer of 2019 and immediately became an absolute regular. In his first two seasons, he only missed one competitive match - due to a flu infection - and in the current season he has already played in 28 games. In total, he made 103 appearances in competitive matches for the Green & Whites, scoring six goals and setting up eleven others.
Now he is moving with immediate effect to promoted side Venezia FC, who currently occupy 17th place in Serie A. Zoran Barisic, Rapid’s managing director of sport, had this to say, following the Upper Austrian's move: "Maximilian Ullmann has performed outstandingly for our club, especially in his first two seasons. I am delighted that once again a player from our club is making the leap to one of Europe's top 5 leagues, wish 'Ulli' all the best in his new challenge and thank him for his commitment over the past two and a half years. Since he made no secret at the beginning of the season that he would ideally like to continue his career in one of the big leagues abroad we already brought in a strong replacement for his position last summer in Jonas Auer, and Martin Moormann, who has recently proven himself several times as a centre-back, can also play at left back.”
The left-footer was also very popular with the Rapid fans due to his reliability and friendly manner, and he was voted ‘Rapidler of the Year’ in 2020, succeeding goal-scorer Taxiarchis Fountas. "I enjoyed my time here very much and am proud that I was able to play for the biggest club in Austria. Now I'm looking forward to the new task in Venice and keeping my fingers crossed for my old teammates to celebrate many successes. I would also like to thank the many Rapid fans who have always given me great support," said Maximilian Ullmann after his move to Italy was confirmed!
THANK YOU, Max!
