Saturday evening brought with it the visit of St. Pölten, an odd atmosphere, two penalties and three points in a curious encounter at the Allianz Stadium.

With domestic football again taking centre stage, a sterling first-half showing from Rapid proved far too much for Mattersburg. Goals from Schaub, Schwab and a double from Murg had the three points sewn up at half-time as Rapid ran out 4:2 victors.

A hat-trick from Gio Kvilitaia and a brace from Veton Berisha helped Rapid brush aside Wolfsberg in the Allianz Stadium on Saturday. A ruthless Rapid lead 3:0 going at half-time, adding two more in the second period to cap a glittering performance.

On Saturday Rapid and Altach squared up in Vorarlberg. The Green & Whites should have lead at half-time, but guilt-edged chances came and went for Joelinton and Kvilitaia. In the second half defences were on top, with both sides ultimately settling for a goalless draw.

Rapid and SV Ried squared off in the Allianz Stadium for a place in the semi-finals of the cup on Wednesday evening. Trailing 0:1 at half-time, Rapid turned the game on its head in the space of two second half minutes to earn a place in Sunday’s draw.

Bundesliga football returned to Austria on the weekend, and was ushered back into the capital by the Vienna derby. Controversial, hard-fought and ultimately drawn, Dejan Ljubicic’s goal mid-way through the second half cancelled out Monschein’s opener for the visitors.
