After touching down in Turkey on Friday and then taking a day to acclimatise, the serious business of friendly fixtures began on Sunday, as Rapid took on cult-German outfit FC St. Pauli from Hamburg.
Following the 9:0 win against Neusiedl/See and the 1:3 reverse against FAC, Rapid rounded off their early preparations with a match on Wednesday afternoon against Burgenland side Parndorf.
On Friday afternoon the lads took to the training pitches at the Ernst Happel Stadium for their next friendly match.
Having returned to training a week ago, Saturday’s friendly against Neusiedl/See (Regional league) represented a step up in winter preparations.
On Saturday Rapid beat Neusiedl 9:0 in the club’s first friendly fixture of 2016. Directly after the match in Vienna, the team bus left the Ernst Happel Stadium and set off for Upper Austria:
